Before & After Care
Since 2021, District 2 has been able to provide free before and after school care at our elementary and K–8 schools thanks to temporary federal COVID-19 stimulus funding. That funding officially ended in January 2025. While we were able to stretch the remaining resources to continue this support through the end of this school year, unfortunately, we will not be able to provide free care next year.
We want to be upfront with you: this is a funding issue. Like many public school districts across Colorado and the country, we are facing ongoing challenges with both state and federal education funding. Despite our best efforts—including actively seeking grant funding to keep this program going—we have not secured the necessary resources to continue offering this service at no cost to families.
However, we are not walking away from our commitment to supporting students and families. District 2 is actively working with one of our partners and one possible new partner, and we’re hopeful they will be able to continue offering programs at many of our schools.
As those plans develop, we will share updates with you as soon as they’re available. We know this service matters to many families, and we are committed to doing everything we can to help connect you with before and after school care that supports your needs.
