What we offer

Academics

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) World School: SCIS is a fully authorized school for both the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for grades K-5 and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for grades 6-8.
  • Global Curriculum: Our IB framework encourages students to think critically, challenge assumptions, and consider both local and global contexts.
  • Program of Inquiry: Students engage in rigorous instructional units that address transdisciplinary themes, developing them into active, compassionate, lifelong learners.
  • Social Emotional Learning & MTSS: We utilize Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for both academics and behavior. Our culture is rooted in Restorative Practices and "Character Strong" to build a community of kindness, empathy, and respect.

Extracurriculars - No Fee

  • Athletics: For 4th-5th grade, we offer intramural basketball and soccer. Middle school offers a wide range of seasonal sports, including volleyball, cross-country, soccer, football, basketball, track & field, cheer, and softball.
  • Clubs: Elementary Cheer Club, Lego League, Ukulele Club, Just Dance/Yoga Club, STEM Challenge
  • Pre-Collegiate Programs: We partner with Peak Education, Educating Children of Color, and the UCCS Pre-Collegiate Program to prepare students for the future.

What makes us stand out

Only K-8 IB School in Southeast: We are the only school in the entire Southeast region that combines the stability of a K-8 campus with the prestige of a global International Baccalaureate education.

Deeply Rooted Relationships: Our K-8 model provides the unique opportunity to spend up to nine years with our students and families, allowing us to foster deep roots and build lasting, meaningful relationships.

Contributing to the Common Good: As an IB school, "Action" is a core component of our learning. A yearly student favorite is “Socktober,” when we come together to donate socks and canned goods to shelters.

Student Leadership: We empower student voices through Student Council, student-led announcements, and Renaissance Assemblies that celebrate personal development and success.
