Dress Code
All clothing is expected to be cleaned and maintained regularly. Clothing should be fitted at the waistline, NO oversized or undersized clothing. Winter jackets are not allowed to be worn inside the classroom, make sure your student has an appropriate jacket or sweater.
Tops: Shirts must fully cover the back and stomach.
• Graphic tees and shirts with logos/designs are allowed as long as they are not inappropriate or distracting
• No crop tops, tank tops or “spaghetti strap” tops
• No hoods will be allowed indoors (ears/eyes must be visible)
Bottoms: Must be fitted at the waistline
• Jeans are allowed as long as no skin is showing under holes and rips
• Shorts and skirts are permitted as long as they are an appropriate length and provide full coverage
Shoes: Students must have appropriate shoes for PE classes and science experiments.
• No slippers or house shoes
• No shoes with wheels or lights
• No high heels or open-toe shoes
Accessories: If an accessory (jewelry, headband, bow, etc.) becomes a distraction to instruction, the student will be asked to remove the accessory. The accessory will be held by the teacher or placed in another area until the end of the instructional period.
• Headwear is allowed as long as it is appropriate AND ears/eyes must be visible
• NO hoods allowed indoors
Not Allowed:
This list is not all-inclusive and the final decision on whether clothing or footwear violates SCIS dress code guidelines is made by a school administrator.
• NO offensive language, images or symbols
• NO skin showing under holey/ripped jeans or denim
• NO one-piece body suits
• NO hoods on hoodies to be worn in the building (ears must be visible)
• NO perfumes or colognes due to the possibility of aggravating asthma or allergies
